With 2022 nearing an end, we sat down with Director of Care Gail Millar to reflect on the year’s challenges and achievements:
What challenges did you face in 2022?
The challenge in care was staff recruitment and retention. Given the challenges of Covid and the hard work that all the carers did throughout that time many have felt that they don’t want to continue in the field. This is a national problem which needs to be addressed by the government. Care is a profession which should be recognised by those in power.
What achievement(s) are you most proud of this year?
For me, it is getting the accreditation for security training for Kaizen Training, which the manager, Brian, put a lot of work into along with Steven our security trainer. Our SVQs continue to grow too which is excellent. I am so proud of the team at Kaizen.
What are you thankful for this year?
The hard work that the teams have put in. They have all shown me so much commitment and they have truly worked as a team for the business. The dedication of all our SRS Care managers, including Diane and Jill, in making sure the service users received their care on schedule under extremely difficult circumstances, especially now during the winter months.
What are your hopes for 2023?
That SRS Care continues to develop and grow. For Kaizen Training we hope to get another few accreditations: one for SVQ in Business and Administration and the Care Home Advance Practitioner accreditation.
What is your New Year’s Resolution?
The same as it always is; to eat less and exercise more!!
